Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 8, 2026
Rephrase is an AI keyboard for iPhone. This policy explains what happens to your text.
What we collect
Nothing. Rephrase has no account, no servers, no analytics and no ads. We never receive, store or sell anything you type.
How your text is processed
- Typing: the keyboard works on your iPhone. What you type is not saved or sent anywhere.
- Rewriting with Apple Intelligence: when you tap Fix grammar or a tone, the text is processed by Apple's on-device model. It never leaves your iPhone.
- Rewriting with OpenAI (optional): if you add your own OpenAI API key, the text you ask to rewrite is sent directly from your iPhone to OpenAI to create the rewrite. It is sent with your key, under your OpenAI account, and with storage turned off in the request. OpenAI's privacy policy applies: openai.com/policies/privacy-policy
- Only the text you ask to rewrite is processed — the selected text, or the text around the cursor that iOS shares with the keyboard.
Your OpenAI key
Your key is stored only in your iPhone's Keychain. You can remove it any time in the Rephrase app.
Full Access
iOS asks keyboards for "Full Access" before they can use the network. Rephrase needs it only to reach OpenAI. Typing and Apple's on-device model work without it.
Settings
Your settings (AI engine, OpenAI model) and recent emoji are saved on your iPhone only.
Children
Rephrase does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date above.
